By posting his recipe videos on YouTube with Bondi Beach as the scenery, Australian Guy Turland probably didn't expect so much success and most likely never thought that he’d open a business on the other side of the Pacific, in Los Angeles, a few years later. Almost hidden in the heart of an industrial park in Santa Monica, where start-ups and creative studios stand together, Bondi Harvest is the fusion of the Australian east coast and California. The common theme is pretty obvious: a simple and laid-back lifestyle, focused around the ocean as the wooden board reading “But first surf, then coffee” reminds us.
Inside this charming bungalow, every aspect of the decoration has been picked carefully: reused furniture, large tables, surfboards and of course many references to the sea. If the weather permits, the best option is still to settle outside in the small decorated patio to enjoy the sun. In the midst of bougainvillea, palm trees and other plants, one feels cut off from the city. Bondi Harvest is a true haven of peace, perfect for lunch or a break during the day.
The fresh and colorful cuisine has been a delight for healthy food lovers since its opening, especially as the menu changes very regularly according to the seasonal ingredients. I stopped there in the morning and the "Mango Madness" smoothie made of mango, coconut and turmeric was delicious. So, I will return with great pleasure!
